Why is Audubon’s Book Birds of America so expensive?

Because every page in each set of books were all hand colored. They catalog and display American birds, some of which are extinct. John Audubon was not just a naturalist, but he was an incredible artist who really created one of the most scientific exportations of birds in the world. He created 200 sets of books and only 120 are know to exist today - each one filled with hand colored art. Beautiful books.
